With increasing labor challenges, a booming e-commerce demand spurred by COVID-19, and rapid advances in automation, it's no surprise that the logistics industry is taking a serious look at automating many of the daily tasks that are currently performed by people.

From robotic autonomous forklifts and pallet movers to automated robot pickers, technology is steadily being incorporated into the logistics industry. While technology can relieve a lot of previous challenges, the logistics industry needs to understand the challenges and hazards associated with adding new autonomous machines to the workplace and keep safety a top priority.

Despite the many benefits to automation in the logistics industry, there are still many opportunities for hazards and collisions. New equipment means employees have to get accustomed to new systems and processes. In some cases, dependence on robots and automation can give employees a false sense of security and safety. It is imperative that warehousing and logistics companies continue to keep safety plans and procedures up to date to avoid many of these common accidents to keep their warehouse running safely, and efficiently.
